At the time of Imbolc, especial attention was given to the fireside. All day it was kept fueled with woods, to welcome the arrival of Abbess. At night a rowan rod was kept in the fire’s heart and special care was taken of the fire. The next morning before, the fire was checked for any sign of blessing from the goddess. The sign of blessing looked like the footprint of a swan or a goose. If such a mark was found in the fire, it meant to bring extremely fortunate time for that family. The Gaelic festivals are undoubtedly containing many unseen facts that form the base of these festivals.
